Himachal Pradesh has suffered heavy losses of life and property due to intermittent rain which lashed the entire State from last two to three days.

As per official reports, ten persons were reported killed due to landslides in tribal district of Kinnaur and dozen stranded due to blockade of roads.

Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over the death of 10 persons in district Kinnaur who died after being buried in landslides.

Chief Minister has directed the administration to take quick and appropriate action to deal with the situation and to provide immediate relief and assistance to the affected. He has also urged the Government of India to send a team to assess the losses occurred due to the heavy rainfall in State.

Meanwhile, a high level meeting was convened here today by the Chief Secretary S. Roy to cope-up with the situation arisen due to adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall in the State particularly in tribal area of Kinnaur.

Chief Secretary directed different agencies and departments to work in coordination to deal with the situation. An appeal was made to the people not to venture out during heavy rains as there was always a risk of being trapped in landslides etc.
