Shimla: Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) organised a mini marathon as a part of its on-going silver jubilee celebrations. About 500 participants covered a distance of about 5 km from the Ridge to Nav Bahar passing through the Mall Road, Raj Bhawan and Forest Road. The purpose of the run was to propagate the message “Conserve Energy, Save Energy”. The run culminated at the Convent of Jesus and Mary where various games and events like lemon race, musical chair etc were also organised for SJVN employees and their families.

The marathon was flagged off by RP Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, along with other directors of SJVN.

Lakshya Chauhan bagged the first prize in the under-15 years boys group and Kavya in the girls category. In the 15 to 55 years women’s age group Shruti got the first prize and Hoshiyar Singh in the men’s group. In the veteran group (55 plus years) Mohan Lal Thakur won the first prize.

This mini marathon was a part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations commenced on 10th May, 2013 with a Blood Donation Camp at Shimla in which more than 80 employees and their family members donated blood. The celebrations will conclude on the Company’s Foundation Day on 24th May, 2013 with a Gala Cultural Evening.
