The Government of India and Himachal Pradesh Government will jointly work to raise additional storage capacity of food-grains up to 42,000 metric tonnes in Himachal Pradesh. This was decided in a meeting held between K.V. Thomas, Union Food Minister and G.S. Bali, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister of Himachal Pradesh at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi today.

It was decided in principle that supply of rice will be raised under public distribution system in comparison to wheat. Bali revealed that Rs. 19.5 crore would be spent on computerization of Public Distribution System in the State. The meeting was attended by Prem Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary and B.C. Badalia, Director Food Supplies, Himachal Pradesh and Senior Officers of Government of India.
