One person is killed in a police firing at Chakkar near HPU Summerhill Shimla. Incident happened in late night and another person sustained grave injuries and is battling for life in IGMC Shimla. The deceased has been identified as Uday Singh Panwar (Prince), while the injured have been identified as Harsh Sharma, a resident of Chakkar. Both are in mid twenties.
Though the reasons of firing are not known yet, but sources said that they were trying to lift something from the cars parked there and when police personal tried to stop them they attacked police with weapon and in retaliation police shot them.
Believing some wrongdoing in the incident, locals have gathered at Boileauganj police station and IGMC Shimla raising slogans against police atrocities. Even police had to lathicharged to disperse agitated and violent crowd.
A case has been registered against the two policemen under Section 304, IPC, and a counter case against the three youths under Sections 307, 353, 332, 579 and 511, IPC.
To find out the truth, the Govt has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the shootout. Additional Judicial Magistrate NK Latth has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit the report within the next five days. Latth said the body had been handed over to the family members after postmortem.
