CPM senior state leader Rakesh Singha announced to fight election from Theog assembly segment. While announcing his candidature from Theog, Singha blamed both Congress and BJP for the jagged development of the region. He alleged that Theog segment was ignored by the state Govt and common people are suffering daily from it. Prior to it Rakesh Singha had won assembly election in 1993 from Shimla segment.
Congress is fielding it senior most leader Vidya Stokes from the Theog and TMC convener Dr. Pramod Shrma, who had already contested two unsuccessful elections against Vidya Stokes from Kumarsain segment, which is now merged with other assembly segments, has also announced to try his luck from Theog as well. BJP is yet to announce its official candidate and it is likely to field some new face this time as Theog MLA Rakesh Verma, who is now back in party fold has desired to contest election from Chopal assembly constituency and some media reports are also suggesting that Verma has got necessary party approval from Chopal.
