The Congress criticized Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal for claiming “false credit” for some important schemes and major projects sanctioned by the UPA government. Gen Sec Kuldeep Singh Rathore said that while addressing a rally at Mandi, the Chief Minister had claimed that the IIT and the ESIC Medical College in Mandi, the free ambulance service, the free school uniform scheme and distribution of CFLs were Congress government’s achievements.

He said all these schemes and projects were either directly under the domain of the Centre or part of the flagship programme of the UPA regime. For instance, the Atal Swasthya Sewa was actually provided under the National Rural Health Mission.

He said instead of criticising the UPA government for not providing enough central assistance, Dhumal should express gratitude for the “liberal help” extended to the state. He advised Dhumal to bring a motion of thanks to acknowledge the assistance provided by the Centre to the state in the coming session of the Vidhan Sabha.
