Congress election commission received six applications for Himachal Youth Congress re-poll that is scheduled on 19th April. Out of six contenders, four belongs to the Kangra district; whereas other two are from Mandi. Those who are contesting election are Monika Bharti, wife of Congress MLA from Guler Vidhan Sabha segment, Dharmender Thakur (Darang, Mandi), Goldy (Nagrota Bagwan), Mahender Kumar (Mandi), Manu Sharma (Jawali) and Prerna (Kangra). Shimla district, which has 1591 delegates, has no candidate to vie the youth congress election, whereas in the last election, which was null and void by the FAME, had five prominent faces.

For the smooth and fair election, PRO Murli Shetty is making all necessary arrangement and taking precautions as well, so that this election should not treated as the earlier one. While questioned about the previous election, Murli Shetty said that FAME has canceled the last election because of some irregularities like paper advertisement and excessive expenses during the election. He refuted the allegation like voting and counting irregularities in the election. The result of the election will be declared on 21st April.
