Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Jai Ram Thakur met Vijay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development at Delhi today to discuss issues related to Rural Development and MNREGA.

Thakur urged the Centre to release financial assistance of Rs. 1.57 crore for the ‘District Haat’ at Mandi. The Minister also apprised the Secretary of the matters taken up by Rural Development and other Departments at the recently organised meeting of State level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee. He said that the Centre should consider the proposal for crop protection under MNREGA sent by State Legislative Assembly so that farmers were relieved of the menace of destruction of crops caused by wild animals at the earliest. Thakur took up the matter of increasing employment days and also to enhance wages under MNREGA with the Secretary.
