Employees of Himachal Pradesh State Education Board ( HPSEB) are still facing the heat of the examination scam that had rocked the state it in 2010. In a fresh development, the board authorities have taken action against three employees who were found guilty during the investigations.
The board suspended junior assistant Pritam Chand, demoted one Govind Vallabh and withheld salary increment of Sunita Devi, a class-four employee. Many, among the 400 odd employees of the board, were chargesheeted following unearthing of the scam.
The examination scam stung the board, exposing a gang of swindlers who made hundreds of students pass the class-8, 10, 11 and 12 exams without actually writing the in examinations. After the scam 44 employees were chargesheeted. Four FIRs were submitted by the board secretary after the scam was exposed and Omkar committee was also constituted by the government to probe the matter. One of the measures the committee recommended was to rotate duties of the education board employees.
