Workers of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) protested against the Centre’s FDI decision to allow the FDI in retail. Most of shops and commercial establishments in Shimla remained closed as a part of this general strike. However, there were no reports of traffic being held up due to the strike in the state and about any violent activities. BJP claims it successful and said that this an answer of general people to the Centre Government, who are working on the behest of US.
