Chess association of Himachal Pradesh is conducting Inter College Chess championship. Championship will held in Shimla, but Association haven’t declare its dates yet. In the Inter College Chess championship all colleges of Himachal Pradesh will participate and will show their skill. Those who will win the contest will automatically be selected for inter University championship, where players will prove their skill on square-checkered.

Although India has produced many legends who have ruled the square-checkered board with 64 squares yet Chess has not penetrated into the grassroots level, where more and more player can participate in it. Himachal Chess Association Chairman Amit Sharma told that it is a first step to introduce Chess to the student and after it Chess Association will regularly hold such championship that will enable the chess enthusiasts to show their skill. Amit Sharma said that Himachal have pool of good players who are regularly playing good at national level, but added that Himachal need a good and competitive platform that also nurture other upcoming players to train and learn the tricks of the game. Amit Sharma has shown his faith and claim that Himachal Chess Association will produce many players in the State.
