Agro commodities trading company Adani Agrifresh has entered the market to procure apples directly from growers in Himachal Pradesh. Company official said that they are targeting to procure 18,000 metric tonnes at Rs.60 a kg for top quality apples that is almost double that of last year. However that seems around 40 percent less to the open market. The company has three stores at Rampur, Sainj and Rohru in Shimla district.
Due to the inclement weather, apple production in the state is about 50 percent less than last year’s bumper production. Therefore apple growers are getting good prices for their crop.
