Director, Urban Development, Dr. Purnima Chauhan inaugurated one day orientation programme for Urban Local Bodies here today. She said that the State Government is taking keen interest to adopt the Root Zone Technology in all the Urban Local Bodies which would effectively purify domestic effluent. She said that all the Urban Local Bodies had been directed to plant these reed plants around Septic Tanks Near Sewage Disposal Drains and Soak Pits, riverbanks. She further added that sewerage work in 16 towns in the State had been completed and work is in progress in 24 Urban Local Bodies.
She also apprised that a meeting for better coordination and convergence at the field level, a video conference with Deputy Commissioners would be held on 7th June, 2011 under the chairpersonship of Principal Secretary, Urban Development to flag the important issues relating to the Urban Local Bodies.
Among others, Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad, GIZ New Delhi, ACADEMICS Lucknow and H.P. State Pollution Control Board and HPIDB and representatives of IPH and Urban Local Bodies including MC Shimla participated in the workshop.
