Governor Urmila Singh presented 1st Stokes Memorial Award to Praba Devi at Raj Bhawan today for her excellent performance in Roller Skating in World Summer Games -2011 held in Athens, Greece. Vidya Stokes, Leader of Opposition and members of the Stokes Memorial Trust were present on the award presentation ceremony. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, certificate and memento. Stokes Memorial Trust has instituted this Stokes Award in the recognition of the excellence from the State in the field of sports.
Praba Devi had got two Gold Medals, one Silver and one Bronze Medal in Rollar Skating event in World Summer Games -2011 (Special Olympics) at Athens, Greece last year. Governor Urmila Singh appreciated the endeavours of Praba Devi for bringing laurels to the country in general and the State in particular by winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in Rollar Skating. Praba Devi hails from Katrian Village in Kullu district and is a student of Prema Ashram Una.
