A 50-km stretch of the Mehatpur-Amb road’s bad condition has became a nuisance to commuters. The road is being constructed by Longjian, a Chinese company, under a World Bank-aided project. According to the conditions of the contract, the Chinese company was supposed to keep at least one lane on the entire Mehatpur-Amb road in a working condition. However, the condition of the road is in bad shape and causing problem to the commuters. The bad condition of the road is leading to daily traffic jams and frequent accidents.
As per the conditions, the Chinese company has to complete the road by February next year. However, at this point of time it does not seems that company will meet the deadline. Besides the road, the construction of bridges, which are part of the road project, is also slow and out of 12 bridges company has started only 8 bridges.
