MLA Renuka, Dr Prem Singh died today morning due to a heart attack. He died at his residence in village Mina Bag in Sangrah tehsil. Dr Prem Singh was 63 and today was his 64th birth day. He is survived by his wife Vidya Devi, daughter Rekha, Son Viney, grandson and grand daughter. His mother Sajno Devi (90) is still alive.
Dr Prem Singh was elected six time on Congress ticket to the state assembly from Renuka [Reserve] constituency. He was veterinary doctor by profession, and was elected in 1982 assembly elections on Congress ticket. He was elected again in 1985 but lost to Janta Dal nominee Roop Singh in 1990. Dr Prem Singh was again elected to Himachal Vidhan Sabha in 1993 in 1998, 2003 and 2007 assembly elections. He received his education near his native village Rajana and Dadahu. At present he was chairman of Public accounts committee, he also chaired Himachal milk federation for five years.
Dr Prem Singh held different important positions in the Congress Party during his 29 years long inning in the active politics. During his tenure as MLA he also chaired different boards and corporations besides remaining parliament secretary in the Cabinet of Virbhadra Singh.
Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal grieved over the untimely death of Dr. Prem Singh and also gave their condolence to the bereaved family.
