Model Code of Conduct imposed with immediate effect
The Election Commission of India has announced dates of Lok Sabha Election 2019. The Election for 17th Lok Sabha Election will be held in seven phase. Starting from 11 April, election will conclude on 19 May. The counting of the votes will be held on 23rd May.
The term of the present Lok Sabha ends on June 3.
Polling for 4 seats of the Himachal Pradesh will held on 19th May i.e. seventh phase of the election.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said the model code of conduct would come into immediate effect from Sunday, and any violation will be dealt with in the strictest manner, CEC further stated.
To conduct election 10 lakhs polling stations would be set up this time as against about nine lakhs in 2014, and 17.4 lakh VVPATs to be used in the elections.
Chief Election Commissioner stated that all critical events shall be videographed. Google and Facebook will carry out verification of political advertisers, CEC said and further mandated that candidates will be required to furnish details of their social media accounts.
Chief Election Commissioner asked political parties to desist from using environmentally hazardous material during poll campaign, and in order to curb noise pollution, Election Commission prohibit usage of loud speakers between 10pm-6am.
