Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced to up-grade Kupvi Sub-Tehsil as Tehsil in Shimla district and sub-depot of HRTC at Nerwa as full fledged depot. He said that Kupvi would be made a Tehsil as a special case because of backwardness and hard topography of the area which was around 150 kilometers away from Chopal and had eight backward Gram Panchayats.
The Chief Minister made these announcements while addressing a public meeting at Kupvi. He said that Himachal Pradesh had many areas with hard topographical conditions which needed to be streamlined for development at par with other areas. The government would ensure that all hard, far-flung and remote areas get road connectivity and other development projects were carried at a faster pace.
Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Lift Water Supply Scheme Boharat in Gumma. This would benefit 12 villages of the area and would be completed at a cost of Rs 112 lakh. He inaugurated Tarahan-Kanda-Banah road completed at the cost of 352 lakh and Kupvi-Mashot-Dochi-Kanah road completed at a cost of RS 376 lakh and also flagged off buses on the occasion. He also laid foundation Stone of 33 KV Electricity Sub-Station at Kupvi which was likely to cost Rs.6.25 crore and would benefit a population of 25,000 of 89 villages of 17 Gram Panchayats of the area.
Chief Minister also announced the foundation stone laying ceremony of LWSS, Malat to be completed at a cost of Rs 96 lakhs covering seven villages. He also announced inauguration of Veterinary hospital Kupvi constructed with an outlay of 26 lakh and inauguration of additional building of Panchayat Ghar Kupvi.
The Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of upgraded Kupvi-Sailpav road of 21.5 Kms with an outlay of Rs. 930 lakhs. He also announced opening PHC at Gumma and Dhar Channa.’
He announced upgradation of Primary Schools to Middle, which includes GPS Gyan, GPS Monubhavia, GPS Vanipul, Ghalla, Dehya, Antroli and Sobhal, Shaela, Kakhrona, Sharer, Masrah, and Churian and over dozen other schools. He also upgraded High School Banah, High School Guma, Bijmal and approved new primary Schools for Harijan Basti Kimali, Sunali at Gumma in Gram Panchayat Bohar and at Sainj Khudn (Giunchar) in Gram Panchyat Babat.
Later, he also inaugurated Naura-Kulag road which would cost Rs. 122 lakh and also flagged off a bus.
Balbir Verma, Chopal MLA, Subhash Manglet, Chairman State Marketing Board Deputy Commissioner Dinesh Malhotra and SP D.W Negi were present on the occasion amongst others.
