Shimla: Taking a strong action in the case of sexual harassment of a class-VI girl student of government middle school, Mayfield, Shimla, the department of Elementary Education has dismissed the accused teacher Baldev Raj Harnot, PET from the government services.
On April 26 this year, girl student, had accused teacher for sexually harassing her. She had narrated the ordeal to her parents on which agitated parents reached at the school and thrashed the accused teacher. Later police arrested the teacher and registered FIR against him under Section 354 of Indian Penal Code, Section 9 F of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The teacher was found to be indulged in the activities of misbehaviour with students and sexual harassment of female students for past some time. He failed to improve his conduct despite grant of various opportunities. The act of the concerned teacher was found to be a clear cut violation of CCS (Conduct) Rules, 1964 besides an act of unbecoming of a government servant.
A complaint and inquiry report of Headmistress of GHS Kaithu was received by the Directorate of Elementary Education regarding involvement of Baldev Raj Harnot in sexual harassment of female students of GMS Mayfield. All the staff and students of GMS Mayfield in their written complaint stated that Baldev Raj Harnot was involved in the activities of sexual harassment with female students and also misbehaved with other students from some past time.
The inquiry report of Headmistress of GHS Kaithu also revealed involvement of the teacher in the misbehaviour and sexual harassment of the female students of the school during September, 2017.
Earlier also, Baldev Raj Harnot during his posting at Rampur Keonthal in Shimla district was found indulged in physical torture of a school boy in school complex. The matter was inquired and he had tendered apology in written.
