New Delhi: Er. Chander Mohan Walia, Secretary General, Forum of Hydro Power Producers in Satluj and various other associated basins (HPPF), has been conferred with honorary Global Fellowship in Renewable Energy by Renewable Energy Promotion Association (REPA).
The prestigious award was given at a ceremony held at New Delhi Institute of Management Convention Centre. Walia has served as Member (Technical) in HP State Electricity Board and as Director (Electrical) in Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. After his retirement in the year 2009, he served as Independent External Monitor to Bhakhra Beas Management Board for five long years.
Er. Walia played an important role in establishing various electric high voltage transmission lines in Himachal Pradesh. He was instrumental in establishing State Load Dispatch Centre in Himachal Pradesh and played key role as founder Director in establishing Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd.
Chander Mohan Walia is also instrumental for construction of various hydel projects in Himachal Pradesh. He played a key role in the construction of 126 MW Larji hydel project owned by HPSEBL. He contributed his expertise in electro-mechanical works of 100 MW Sainj hydel electric project, 195MW Kashang hydel project and 111MW Sawra Kuddu hydroelectric project owned by HPPCL.
Veteran hydro engineer was also associated with SJVNL 1500 MW Nathpa-Jhakri Project.
