Former Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Sudripta Roy passed away at a Hospital in New Delhi, following brief illness.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has mourned the demise of Roy. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said Roy was an efficient bureaucrat and served the state in various important capacities. He said that valuable services rendered by Shri Roy to the state would be remembered for a long time.
Singh expressed his deep sympathies with the bereaved family members and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
Expressing grief over the death of Sudripta Roy, Chief Secretary V.C Pharka, said he was personally shocked to hear about the news. He said Roy was a great personality who would always inspire others to work hard with utmost dedication.
HP IAS Officers Association has also condoled the passing away of former Chief Secretary and prayed for the peace to the departed soul. The association also prayed to the Almighty to give strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss.
A 1978 batch IAS officer Sudripta Roy had assumed office of the Chief Secretary of HP in May, 2012. While in office Sudripta Roy had suffered a brain haemorrhage. After the elevation of P. Mitra to the post of Chief Secretary, Roy was posted as adviser to the Government of Himachal Pradesh. He was retired from his distinguish Government service in February 2015.
