The Shimla Municipal Corporation today launched a Mobile Parking App that would help motorists to locate parking slot by using their mobile phone. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh inaugurated the App, which would be started soon in other urban areas of the State.

Additional Chief Secretary (IT) Sanjeev Gupta gave live demonstration of the App. He said parking app was a unique initiative which would help the tourists and local residents of the Shimla town to find parking slots through a call or by sending a message through their mobile phones.

The owner of the parking would inform about the capacity and parking fee which would be charged on the basis of time for which the vehicle was parked. He said this facility would also be started in other towns shortly to facilitate the visitors and the local residents.

This App is aimed to help people to locate the parking facility and would enable to register online register. The constant complaints of the citizen and more so of the tourists that they have been fleeced will be checked once and for all. All the parking in the city including those run by private, tourism will be integrated with this App.

Finding a place to park a car is a difficult task in Shimla town. During the summer, roads of the Shimla city chocked with the tourists vehicles and making difficult to the daily commuters. The local administration has developed few parking slots in the city, but with the growing numbers of the vehicle, making difficult to accommodate them. The administration has announced to build more multistory parking facilities in the various part of the city, but the parking problem seems not to fade away easily. There are many houses in the city, which are lacking parking facilities and thus vehicle are being parked on the roadside. Even after administration has made mandatory to have parking slot before buying a vehicle, but in most of the instances, vehicle buyers succeeded befooling authority. Now a days many hotels were also coming up, and failing to provide parking facility for its guests, and thus forcing tourists to park their vehicles on roadside.

This App will surely help motorists to locate a parking slot, but to give a befitting solution, every citizen of the city need to inculcate a sense of responsibility and administration has to take some stringent step to end the parking problem in Shimla.
