Shimla: The Himachal BJP has blamed CPM leaders for compromising on the development of the Shimla Municipal Corporation and after losing Smart City project now Shimla is on the verge of depriving of the funds available under AMRUT scheme.

In a press statement senior BJP leader and Shimla legislature Suresh Bhardwaj has blamed the State government and Mayor Sanjay Chauhan and Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwar for lack of development of Shimla city. He stated the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor have time for everything excepting taking up the cause of Shimla city and its residents. He quipped

“They write letters, emails to the Urban Development Ministry but do not have time to personally visit the Minister to sort out the pending matters. It is ironical that the Mayor has time to go for foreign trips but avoids going to the Ministers room for general public’s benefit”

Former state BJP chief also accused Mayor and Deputy Mayor for ignoring elected and associate councilors of the Corporation regarding any development projects of the city and constantly on the collision course with them.

Suresh Bhardwaj demanded the State Urban Development Minister to immediately convene a meeting of the elected representatives including Mayor, Deputy Mayor, councilors, MLAS, MPS and the concerned officials to chalk out a strategy for proper implementation of the AMRUT project.

Suresh Bhardwaj stated the Union Government has opened coffers for overall development of the country and a drive towards urbanization of the country, and now it’s for the state governments and local bodies to grab this golden opportunity to develop their respective areas.
