Acting tough on the erring private technical educational institutes, the Himachal Pradesh government has revoked affiliation to 16 institutes with immediate effect.

Technical Education Minister GS Bali said these private technical colleges had violated norms laid by technical education board and action was initiated as per rules.

GS Bali has made clear that the state government won’t allow any kind of compromise with the standard of education. However, while asking about the future of students, whose future were on stake by the ruling, Technical Education Minister stated that when students were giving fee it was the duty of institutes to provide them adequate facility.

In Himachal Pradesh, there are 39 technical education institutes, 24 private and 15 government institutes, which have total 9700 seats.

Earlier, the Court had imposed penalty of about 2.5 crore on 21 technical institutions for violating norms and ordered to deposit 50 percent of amount with the government. But, only five institutions abide by the Court order.
