Texas: Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Thakur said that the government was making best efforts to develop vast health infrastructure in the state and two new medical colleges, one cancer hospital and one mother and child hospital were being set up in the state.

He was addressing the 32nd Annual conference of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) at San Antonio city in Texas State in USA. He was the guest of Honor for the meeting “Enhancing Engagement via Collaboration between AAPI (USA) and India.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare was the Chairman and Chief Guest on the occasion. More than 1,500 physicians are attending this conference at Texas in USA.

Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh had one of best health indicators in India. He said that State Government had initiated several welfare schemes for the patients. He appreciated the support of AAPI in its efforts to make healthcare services affordable, accessible and efficient and added that AAPI was running 15 clinics in India including one in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.

Kaul Singh Thakur requested AAPI to set such more clinics in Himachal Pradesh particularly in difficult areas in the State and also to provide technical expertise to make health services cost effective.

Anwar Feroz, honorary Advisor, AAPI assured that the Association would explore possibilities to give more support to the Indian society.
