Considering the vulnerability of the State to the climate induced hazards, the State Centre on Climate Change under the aegis of the State Council for Science technology and Environment is organizing one day awareness workshop on Avalanches and Flood Hazards in Himachal Pradesh on 28th May, 2014 at Hotel Holiday Home, Shimla.

The workshop has been planned with the objective to sensitize the Government machinery on issues focusing mainly on snow avalanches and the floods and other natural hazards.

Dr. S.S. Negi, Director Environment-cum- Member Secretary State Council informed that Dr. R.D. Singh, Director, National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) will deliver the key note address.

Dr. Anand Sharma, Regional Director, IMD Dehradoon will participate in deliberations, besides senior scientists from Snow Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) Chandigarh and CWC Shimla will apprise the participants about the status, the issues and the management and mitigation strategies of these hazards in the State.
