Karpat/Challing (Miyar Valley): Electorates of Karpat and Chhalling villages of Miyar Valley of Lahaul Spiti district has decided to boycott the elections over government apathy towards their basic demands.
Earlier two cloud burst had hit the Miyar valley and connecting bridge and road were washed away. Despite getting assurance from Chief Minister, authorities responsible failed to execute development work in the valley, villages claimed. Raghubir a local villager said
“Our demand is to reinstate bridge and road connectivity to villages as it caused inconvenience to the local people and students. Since their demands were not considered, they decided to boycott the polls”
Agitating villages on Sunday announced that they will boycott the election this time in protest against state government and district administration. These two villages comprised about 500 voters.
