Opposition BJP rejected the Himachal Pradesh Lokayukta Act, 2014, presented only yesterday in the assembly, and called it just eyewash and only meant for publicity.

Leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, while addressing media at Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha premises, claimed that Lokayukta Act, 2014 violates CrPc section 191 of 1973 Act and Section 19 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. New Lokayokta Bill also violates the Article 311 of Constitution of India, he added.

Former Chief Minister stated that this bill cannot be passed and will be turned down by the President himself. He also raised that doubts over the selection procedure as selection committee can overrule the recommendations of search committee. Dhumal also ridicule the bill for not seeking public opinion over the appointment of Lokayukta.
