The State Election Commission has directed the revision of electoral rolls of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI’s) / Urban Local Bodies (ULB’s) in the State.
In a notification issued by the Commission, publication of draft electoral roll will be done on 10 July 2013 whereas claims and objections can be filed from 11-20 July which will be decided from 22-27 July. The appeals can be filed within seven days from the passing of the orders by the Revising Authority in case of PRI’s and within three days in case of ULB’s.
The appeals will be decided within seven days from the filing. The correction in the draft electoral rolls as per orders passed by the Revising Authority/ Appellate Authority would be done on 11th August 2013. The Electoral rolls will be finally published on 12 August 2013.
The claims and objections will be received and decided even on holidays. Any person aggrieved by the orders of Revising Authority may file appeal against it to the District Election Officer (Panchayats)/ Deputy Commissioner who will decide appeals within a week time.
The qualifying date for a person to be enrolled as an elector in the electoral rolls has already been declared as 1.1.2013.
