To prepare students for the competitive world, the department of higher education of Himachal Pradesh has decided to introduce information technology (IT) education in all Govt High schools of the state. It will be effective from the academic session 2012-14 and will be introduced in a phased manner.
Till now Education Department has introduced IT Education at the secondary level and 98 Govt Senior Secondary Schools of the state were under this scheme.
Under ICT@School Phase-ll all the Secondary and High Schools are going to be equipped with one ICT lab and two smart classrooms. To make it effective Education department has awarded a contract to CORE Technology.
Presently IT education is being imparted on self financing basis for which students has to shell out Rs110 as IT Fee per month.
