Now local vehicles bearing non-Himachal registration numbers will have to pay green tax levied at four entry points to Shimla town as barriers operating company has denied extending exemption to such vehicles.

About 500 vehicles bearing non-HP registration numbers were getting exemption from green tax and were given three months time to switch to the HP registration numbers. Many MC councillors have also demanded to extend the exemption period further, but barriers operating company has denied to extend it.
