Shimla: A Fact Finding Mission Team of German Government on ‘Himachal Pradesh Forest Sector Climate Change Adaptation Project” for studying impact of climate change led by Vinfraid Syes called on Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri, here today.

The team discussed various ecological issues of the State with the Minister. Thakur Singh Bharmouri welcomed the delegation and said that incidence of fire in forests could be controlled by systemic plantation of different species and added that the Lantana weed had adversely affected the fertile land and steps were being taken to weed it out.

Forest Minister said that sterilization and other steps were being taken to check the monkey menace. He said that blanket ban had been imposed on green felling. He stressed the need for planting the fruit, fodder and timber saplings for ecological balance as well as need of the masses.

Rajesh Dharmani, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Forest said that climate change had emerged as global problem today and steps should be taken to use renewal energy sources. Fact Finding Mission Team visited Shimla, Sundernagar and Palampur areas of the State.
