After the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee decision to suspend the murder accused Doon MLA, Ram Kumar Chaudhary from the party, talks about bye election in Doon Assembly segment are making round in political circle.

Even as per the law it is mandatory for newly elected MLA to take oath within 60 days of his election otherwise election/candidature could be cancelled by the assembly. As Ram Kumar Chaudhary is yet to take oath and has been put behind the bars, many leaders in Congress said that re-election for Doon assembly seat has become inevitable now.

He had surrendered in connection with the Jyoti murder case on 25 December 2012, a day when other members of legislation administered oath at Tapovan, Dharamshala. He is now under Haryana police custody for his alleged connection in Jyoti murder case. Haryana police has claimed that during interrogation Chuadhary has admitted his involvement in murder of Jyoti Rani and even local court has extended his police custody for four more days.
