For the five assembly segments of Una district, 79 candidates have applied for the Congress ticket. MLA Mukesh Agnihotri was the lone applicant from the Haroli assembly segment, whereas for Kutlehar, 23, Una 19, Gagret 24 and from Chitnpurni 13 candidates have applied for the Congress ticket.

Apart from the Haroli assembly segment, other four have received applications in double figure. Rakesh Kalia, sitting MLA of Chitnpurni constituency has applied from neighbored Gagret assembly segment. Chitnpurni has been reserved for the SC candidates. Whereas Kuldeep Kumar, former union minister in Virbhadra Singh Govt, who had lost his election from Gagret to BJP candidate has applied from Chitnpurni segment. Congress senior leader and former MLA OP Ratan has demanded party ticket from Una constituency and claimed to dethrone BJP president’s 2 times stint from the region if given chance to fight election.
