A ‘Mega Lok Adalat’ was held in the High Court premises today by the H.P. High Court Legal Services Committee for amicable settlement of 194 civil cases, out of which 26 cases were settled today. A compensation amounting to Rs. 33,89,091/- was awarded in these cases.

The Lok Adalat was held by four Benches presided over by of Justice R.K. Mahajan (Retd.), Justice A.K. Goel (Retd.), Justice K.C. Sood (Retd.) and Dr. J.N. Barowalia, District & Sessions Judge (Retd) and the functioning was supervised by Justice D.D. Sood, Chairman, HP High Court Legal Services Committee and Justice V.K. Sharma.

Lok Adalats are aimed at providing relief to the litigants by providing mutually agreeable solutions to the parties, thus saving time, energy and money of the parties as also to relieve courts of the huge burden of pending cases.
