In a meeting with Ani MLA Kishori Lal Sagar, Public Works Minister Thakur Gulab Singh said that Government is committed to construct Mangta-Kushwa road in Ani constituency of Kullu district to facilitate the people of the area.

He said that work of Mangta-Kushwa road was awarded to M/s Rakesh Contractor for Rs. 252.02 lakh but after completing work worth Rs. 18.56 lakh, the job was abandoned by the contractor. He said that tenders had been invited six times but each time the bid was higher and the same could not be accepted.

Public Works Minister said that recently the tenders were invited on 24th September, 2011 and it was found that the bid of lowest contractor was Rs. 509.14 lakh against the estimated cost of Rs. 396.82 lakh. He said that tenders were being re-invited and the contractors were being persuaded to participate in tendering process.

Thakur Gulab Singh said that the Government was aware of its responsibilities and sensitive towards the problems of the people of the area. He said that very soon solution would be sorted out and construction would be started on this road on war footing. N.L. Sharma, Engineer in Chief, PWD, A.K. Bhardwaj, Chief Engineer, South Zone, Sonam Negi, Chief Engineer, National Highway and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
