Police told that two truckloads of pashmina wool have been seized in Kinnaur. It is over 5,000 kg and was seized from Kharo near Reckong Peo on Monday.

Police said the truck drivers did not have any permit and documents to carry the pashmina wool, which comes from the Himalayan mountain goat, found primarily in high-altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Tibet. Police said that wool was smuggled into India from China.

Himachal Pradesh shares a porous border with China and police say smuggling of rare species of fauna and Chinese goods like blankets and thermos flasks across the border is quite frequent.
