The district unit of the HP State Pensioners’ Welfare Association has strongly objected to the shifting of a post office branch from the middle of Raura sector of Bilaspur.

A deputation of pensioners and association representatives, led by state association senior vice-president JK Nadda and Sadar unit general-secretary Dr Upender Gauttam, met Deputy Commissioner Ritesh Chauhan and urged him to relocate the branch to its former place.

They said the step had particularly pinched elderly persons and pensioners who were taking its full advantage daily not only for pensions, fixed term deposits, postal pension and other schemes and purposes, but also for normal postal services. The Deputy Commissioner assured them to look into matter.
