Anna Hazare led movement for the strong Lok Pal Bill might have make many corrupt politician nervous, thought it seems that Himachal government looking to taking defensive step by announcing new Lokayukta, which was vacant since May this year.
Former Supreme Court judge L.S. Panta has been appointed the Lokayukta (ombudsman) of Himachal Pradesh; Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal announces it. Panta is currently the chairperson of the National Green Tribunal, a judicial body aimed at expediting environment-related cases, hails from Jubbal area.
He was a judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court before being elevated to the Supreme Court. The Lokayukta’s post has been vacant since May this after the tenure of Justice Bhawani Singh expired.
Chief Minister recently announces to make strong Lokayukta in Himachal and it seems a first step to fulfill his decision.
