Health Minister Dr. Rajeev Bindal, said that 4334 cluster camps had been identified in the State under Mukhyamantri Vidyadharthi Swasthya Karyakaram and as many as 2878 cluster camps had been organized so far in which health check up of 570022 students was conducted by 12 members medical team consisting of two MBBS doctors, one Ayurvedic doctor, one dentist, female health worker, male health worker, lab technician and others.
Bindal was presiding over a review meeting of Health Department here today. In the meeting He said that a target of examining the health of students of 15000 schools has been fixed across the State. Besides, 63205 students have been screened for further treatment in various higher health institutions. He said that approval had been granted by the Cabinet to extend the Swasthya Bima Yojna alongwith Smart Card upto 28th February, 2012 and added that the process of issuing new cards would be started from October. He said that the State had retained first position for its achievement in issuing cards to BPL families since last three years. He said that efforts were afoot to issue cards to every BPL family by the end of this year and added that possibilities were being explored to include MNREGA workers, domestic workers, building construction workers under the same.
Dr. Bindal said that 245 cluster camps have been identified by the State for Bilaspur district, 406 for Chamba, 272 for Hamirpur, 788 for Kangra, 82 for Kinnaur, 232 for Kullu, 66 for Lahaul & Spiti, 678 for Mandi, 656 for Shimla, 351 for Sirmaur, 302 for Solan and 256 for Una districts where health check ups for students would be conducted.
Principal Secretary, Health P.C. Dhiman, Special Secretary, Health S.S. Guleria, Director, Health Services Dr. Vinod Pathak, Managing Director, NRHM Rakesh Kanwar and senior officers of Health Department were present at the meeting.
