The State Election Commission has notified the Election Programme for the conduct of General Election to the Municipal Corporation of Shimla today. The election will be held on 27th May, 2012 from 7 AM to 4 PM.
Nomination papers will be filed on 5th, 7th and 8th May, 2012 (Between 11 AM to 3 PM). Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on 9th May, 2012 (10 AM onwards) and withdrawal of candidature can be done on 11th May, 2012 before 3 PM and the list of contesting candidates will be finalised on 11th May, 2012 immediately after the time of withdrawal is over. The office wise list of all contesting candidates showing the names and symbols allotted to them shall be prepared and affixed.
The list of polling station shall be pasted on or before 5th May, 2012. Counting of votes for Councilors, Deputy Mayor and Mayor of the Municipal Corporation shall be taken up on 28th May, 2012 from 8 AM onwards in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office complex, Shimla. Counting for a constituency once started shall continue till it is completed. Result shall be declared immediately after the counting.
Model Code of Conduct for the election of Municipal Corporation, Shimla has come into force and that will be applicable within the territorial jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation, Shimla till the election process is completed i.e. 30th May, 2012.
