In the public meeting at Beetan in district Una Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the State Government is laying emphasis over women empowerment by providing them maximum opportunities in different sectors to enable them to be partners in the development of the State. Chief Minister said that Sadak-Shiksha-Swasthya-Swarojgar-Swalamban-Swabhiman was the theme of all the policies and programmes of the State Government to make Himachal Pradesh a role model of development in the country. He said that Mukhya Mantri Vidyarthi Swasthya Yojna had been launched in the State to ensure better health services to school going children in their schools itself. Over 4.5 lakh students had been examined medically during the first phase of the campaign, adding that second phase of the programme had been launched not only to medically examine the students but also administer them de-worming pills. He said that the scheme aimed at making children strong and healthy right from their adolescent age.
Chief Minsiter announced opening of a primary health centre at Beetan to facilitate quality medical service to the residents of the area. He said that it was during earlier regime of the BJP in the State that a record number of tube wells were bored in the area and Swan River Channelization Project envisioned and was also executed by spending Rs.108 crore on first phase of the channelization. He said that Rs. 235 crore second phase of the channelization was also carried during the current term of the government. He said that such activities speak volumes of the attention being paid by the State Government towards the development of the area and meeting demand of the local people.
