The income of Himachal Pradesh State Handicraft and Handloom Corporation (HPSHHC) has increased from Rs. 271.73 lakh to Rs. 653.33 lakh by way of allotment of counters and through exhibitions in different emporia during the last three years.
Industrial Minister Kishan Kapoor said that since the Corporation was organizing exhibitions and export fairs in other countries, its products were gaining popularity through out the world. He said that recently the Corporation organized two exhibitions at Birmingham in UK and Budapest in Hungry generating income to the tune of Rs. 20 lakh. Similarly, two exhibitions were also organized in Los Angeles USA and Birmingham in UK during the last year, he added.
Kapoor said that with a view to boost the income generating activities of the Corporation, e-shoping facilities were being encouraged. He said that traditional products of Himachali handicrafts and handlooms like Woolen Shawls, Mufflers, Stoles, Caps, Jewellery, Carpets, Chamba Rumals, Chamba Chappals, Jackets and Pullan were gaining popularity not only in India but also in other countries.
He said that the Corporation had recently sanctioned three Handloom Clusters at Tissa in Chamba, Janjhali in Mandi and Jawali in Kangra Districts with a total cost of Rs. 135.35 lakh. He said that two Integrated Design Projects were being implemented in Chamba district at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh. He said that the Corporation has got sanctioned one more project which envisages an expenditure of Rs. 14.48 lakh. He said that the Union Ministry of Textile has sanctioned Rs. 7.20 lakh for organizing Design and Technical Development Workshop in Chamba Rumal, leather, metal and artistic textile craft.
