Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, New Delhi won T-20 Cricket Tournament All India Maharaja Padam Singh Cricket tournament, Rohru. This tournament is being organised annually in the memory of Maharaja Padam Singh of Bushahr. Eight teams participated in the tournament. Governor Urmila Singh was the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony and distributed prizes to the winners of tournament. She also released souvenir on the occasion.
Governor said that it’s a matter of great pride for the State as well as for organisers of All India Maharaja Padam Singh Cricket Association, who are hosting this Cricket Tournament since long and many national and international cricket stars which includes the Captain of Indian Cricket Team Mahender Singh Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh etc. have participated in the past.
Governor said that the game of cricket was becoming more popular day by day and such tournaments provide an opportunity for the budding players to exhibit their talent. The Governor stressed for maximum participation of youth in various games so that they may inculcate in themselves the confidence, the team spirit and discipline in their day to day life. She said that such activities should be promoted vehemently so that besides personality development, the games go a long way in keeping balance between the mind and the body.
She hoped that the tournament would provide an opportunity to the budding players to excel themselves in times to come and be a part of the Indian team and bring laurels to the country.
Earlier, Vikramaditya Singh, President of the Association welcomed the Governor. Local MLA Mohan Lal Brakta, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, Dinesh Malhotra, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Dullar were also present on the occasion amongst others.
