BJP senior leader and former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has welcomed the assurance of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Prime Minister Narendra Modi of an additional route for the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra.
Dhumal, in his press statement, has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating the matter with the Chinese President.
Leader of Opposition, who had earlier as well taken up the matter with the central government to consider the option of routing the Mansarovar pilgrimage through Himachal, has claimed that the route through Kinnaur District of the state is more convenient, safer and shorter than other routes.
Dhumal said that the Kailash-Mansarovar pilgrimage through Himachal Pradesh will give necessary boost to the hospitality sector of the state and will also generate employment opportunities for the youth of the state.
Ahead of the BRICS summit, the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met at Fortaleza in Brazil where Modi also raised the possibility of additional route for the Mansarovar yatra as the present one from Uttarakhand is a difficult one.
Chinese President gave an assurance to consider the request for the additional route.
