Former Chief Minister and BJP leader Prem Kumar Dhumal has accused chief minister Virbhadra Singh for misleading Himachali people by projecting wrong figures about the state debt.

Leader of opposition, in his press statement, has dared Chief Minister to come with a white paper on the fiscal health of Himachal Pradesh, including debt on the state.

Dhumal said that Chief Minister’s claim that he was repaying the Rs 14,000 crore loan of previous BJP regime was a blatant lie. He said that the factual position is that the trend of taking loan started during Congress regime in the past.

Dhumal said that as per figures in the budget presented by chief minister Virbhadra Singh, the state had loan of Rs 1,870 crore in 1993 which increased to Rs 5,885 crore in five years from 1993 to 1998 under Virbhadra Singh.

BJP leader said that from 2003 to 2008, Virbhadra Singh took loan of Rs 8,632 crore while BJP government, during its rule from 2008 to 2013, took the loan of Rs 6672 crore. While in one year rule of the Congress, it has taken loan of Rs. 3,500 crore, Dhumal claimed.

Dhumal asked Virbhadra Singh to project true financial position of the state and should apologies for misleading the public.
