Shimla: In a meeting of the Construction Workers Welfare Board chaired by Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri here today, it was decided to provide induction heaters with five utensils as one time assistance besides solar lamps to the registered workers of Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

Speaking on the occasion, Agnihotri said that the Board members after completion of two months of membership would be eligible to get financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 for marriage of his two children besides, this assistance would also be provided for the workers for his/her own marriage. It was also decided to provide a bicycle each to female workers of the Board, besides, washing machine would also be provided to one family or female worker as one time assistance.

Minister said that the Board was presently giving Rs. one lakh as financial assistance to the dependents of the workers in event of accidental death. Besides, Rs. 50,000 would now be provided as assistance to the nominee of the deceased member in case of natural death, he added.

Agnihotri said that the Board has also enhanced the medical reimbursement of the registered workers of the Board from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 per annum on production of medical bills from Government hospitals/ empanelled hospitals. He said that in case of indoor treatment the beneficiaries would be eligible for reimbursement upto Rs. 30,000. He said that the Board has also decided that now this medical reimbursement facility would also be extended to dependents of workers.

Presently, the Board was providing Rs. 5,000 to the dependents of the deceased construction workers towards funeral expenses, which now has been enhanced to Rs. 10,000.

Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Bawa Hardeep Singh, Non official Members of the Board, Jagat Ram, Ravinder Kumar and Jagdish Bhardwaj, Additional Chief Secretary Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. P.C. Kapoor, Labour Commissioner, Nandita Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, HIMUDA Arun Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board D.K. Manta and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
