Incessant rain for the past 24 hours has wreaked havoc in Kinnaur district and has put life out of gear in the district. All connecting roads to the district have been blocked following landslides after the heavy rain.

As per report, Tapri region of the district was worse hit by the rain as dozens of private houses, shops and many vehicles have been damaged in the flash floods.

One sad news has reported from Chagaon village of Tapri, where five members of a family, including three children, were buried alive early Monday when boulders fell on their house. Locals have initiated rescue work but the government rescue workers and officials are yet to reach the spot owing to massive landslides en route.

Apart from it, thousands of tourists have been stranded in various parts of the Kinnaur district. Many parts of the district including Sangla valley have been cur off from the rest of the state. The Hindustan-Tibet road leading to the China border along Kinnaur is blocked at many points. The district administration has sought assistance from the army and the Border Roads Organisation for clearing the roads at the earliest. Villages at higher reaches, including Thangi, Labrag, Chitkul and Raksham, experienced fresh snowfall.
