Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Forest) Rajesh Dharmani met Chairman of Mid Himalaya Watershed Development Project aided by World Bank Norman Piccioni. The delegation of World Bank was in Shimla to take stock of developmental activities under Mid Himalaya Watershed Development Project in the State.

Dharmani urged that the project should be extended to the remaining panchayats of the State so that the socio-economic condition of the farmers could be improved. He requested for making special provision for ensuring the participation of panchayati raj institutions and local communities in the next phase of the project.

Dharmani suggested making a special provision under the project for providing fodder to the livestock of the farmers.

Norman Piccioni lauded the role of the forest department for successfully implementing this project in Himachal Pradesh which had emerged as role model for other States.
