Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that added priority would be given to develop Kangra town from tourism point of view and all basic amenities would be provided for promoting the tourism activities.

Chief Minister was talking to media persons at Kangra. He said that necessary directions had been given to the department to accelerate the work on Rs. 14 crore Kangra Sewerage Project.

Virbhadra Singh said that Tanda Medical College was being developed on the analogy of AIIMS to provide modern medical facilities to the people of the area. He said that directions had been issued to transfer PWD Division back to Tanda and Sub Divisional offices of PWD, Electricity and IPH were also being established there.

Virbhadra Singh said that inquiry was being conducted in all the benami land transactions and action would be taken guilty persons as per the law. He said that Baba Ramdev was a good Yoga Guru but now-a-days he was taking more interest in politics than Yoga adding that State Government had cancelled the lease of the land on merit. This land was allotted by ignoring the fact that it had been donated for developing Children Park.

On the issue of environment clearance to the land selected for Central University at Dehra and Dharamshala, Chief Minister said that it was under the consideration of Union Government and the University would be established according to the report.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh also declared that State government will not issue licences to new private universities in the state, saying they are “not needed in a small state”. He said that his Govt would not give any fresh permission to any private university in the state. He added that even his Govt was looking into the allotment of licences to private universities opened during the BJP regime and has constituted a committee to find out irregularities in the working or allotment of licences. He said that the government shall deal strictly if anyone is found guilty.
